ATTENTION ALL ROFs :

As of December 31, 2001 the ROF title may no longer be used !!!

All certificates designating you as a BOC ROF - and any other reference to that title, e.g., in your stationary, business cards or other signage - must be removed at once.

Your opportunity to be grandfathered into BOC-Certification has also expired, back in June of 2001.

If you have continued to practice, we strongly recommend that you become a BOC Certified Orthotic Fitter (COF) NOW - see below!

Why Certification Makes Sense

The BOC Certified Orthotic Fitter Program is a true certification for persons whose primary scope of practice involves the fitting of prefabricated orthoses - those manufactured, sized devices used on the head, torso or extremities - that are not custom fabricated. (The only exception is for custom molded shoes and arch supports.)

  • You, your patients and employers will know that you meet BOC's rigorous standards of knowledge, care and experience.
  • Your practice will benefit by your acceptance as a certified professional by third party payers such as Medicaid, Medicare and HMOs.
  • If licensing becomes required in your state, certification will identify you as a credentialed practitioner, a distinct advantage.
