BOC and EW Announce Special Agreement

A special agreement recently was announced by the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) and Essentially Women (EW), which will save EW members thousands of dollars. The agreement is part of the Essentially Women Benefits Program that provides products and services at a discounted rate to EW members.

EW is a group purchasing organization for providers of women’s healthcare products and services. BOC attends their annual trade show, Focus on the Future, often presenting on topics like facility accreditation and customer service.

BOC offers EW members a discount of 50% off of the three-year facility accreditation fee, a savings of up to $3,000. Accreditation is required by Medicare for reimbursement, but it is also a key to positive patient outcomes and quality care. The accreditation process helps mastectomy boutiques and other types of facilities manage their finances, business processes, and human resources.

Mastectomy fitter candidates receive a discount of 10% off of the application and exam fees for certification. BOC Mastectomy Fitters (CMFs) are qualified to provide the assessment, treatment plan development and implementation for people using external breast prostheses, and other post-mastectomy services. CMFs are recognized professionally as having completed a rigorous education and training program that satisfies industry standards for quality outcomes in patient care.

Discounts were announced at the Focus on the Future show in Charleston, SC, this past March. BOC’s Wendy Miller, BOCO, CDME, Director of Facility Accreditation, had the opportunity to present on “Compliance for the Unique Needs of Mastectomy Boutiques” at the conference.

“BOC has always considered the unique needs of women in healthcare,” said Miller. “That’s why we created the mastectomy fitter credential as a mark of training and competence. It’s also why we value our partnership with Essentially Women. We have a common goal of quality patient care for post-mastectomy patients.”
