BOC Offers New Lymphedema/Compression Accreditation

Registration open for free educational webinar Jan. 24, 2024

OWINGS MILLS, Md. (Jan. 12, 2024) – The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Lymphedema Treatment Act (LTA) Final Rule, which outlines coverage for compression garments and related accessories through Medicare Part B, went into effect Jan. 1, 2024. To ensure current and interested durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthopedics and supplies (DMEPOS) providers can deliver and be reimbursed for treatment items, the Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC), a CMS-approved accrediting organization, recently added a product designed to meet their needs: Lymphedema/Compression Accreditation.

“This recent development by CMS represents a significant victory for patients struggling with lymphedema and the health care providers dedicated to their care,” said BOC’s Chief Operating Officer Matthew Gruskin, MBA, BOCO, BOCPD, CDME. “We are proud to offer this new product and play our part in making a difference for those affected by lymphedema.”

This month, BOC will host a complimentary webinar for professionals, including therapists and clinicians, and other parties interested in learning more. “Understanding the New CMS-Approved Lymphedema Compression Coverage” will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2024, from 12-1 p.m. EST. The webinar will review the newly expanded CMS coverage for lymphedema treatment products and explain the steps to become a DMEPOS supplier, which will enable providers to offer more comprehensive treatment to patients under the new CMS Product Category S04.

The webinar will be hosted by BOC and presented by Steven Gray, CPED COTA/L, consultant for Allstate DME Solutions. Gray is a certified pedorthist, certified occupational therapy assistant and DMEPOS accreditation consultant. Gray has educated more than 500 New York-area physical and occupational therapy (PT and OT) practitioners on the use of DMEPOS to complement their treatment plans.
